It started raining quite heavily before we went to bed last night and we woke up to a rather wet Sarajevo. Tim ventured outside in search of breakfast, returning with one of my favourite breakfasts ever.
When we headed out a bit later it was still decidedly damp, although not raining torrentially.
The weather wasn't deterring people from feeding pigeons in the old town square.
The river, which had been a fairly normal colour yesterday, had turned brown after all the rain.
On the opposite side of the river from the Vijećnica we found a Sarajevo sign. The gold colour didn't really stand out against the background of the building, though.
We found the church of St Anthony, whose bright red colour we'd noticed from the cable car yesterday.
We followed a promenade alongside the river, passing the famous Latin Bridge.
A little further along we came across Sarajevo's synagogue.
As we continued along the path we noticed an unusual art installation above the river.
This was in front of the Academy of Fine Arts, part of the university of Sarajevo.
The bridge in front of it is a rather unusual design.
We were in danger of reaching the end of the town centre at this point, so we crossed over the river and started walking back in the direction of the old town.
On our way we passed a memorial to children who died during the 1990s war...
...as well as an eternal flame commemorating victims of the Second World War.
The day was still very damp, with the hills behind the town being covered in clouds.
We found Sarajevo's Catholic cathedral, which was built in 1884...
...and heard the call to prayer from one of the city's central mosques.
The streets of the old town were really busy, despite the bad weather.
We changed some more money into Bosnian marks, did some shopping in a nearby bookshop, then went to have a late lunch and get out of the rain. The weather definitely hasn't been ideal today but I'm glad we've managed to have a bit of a walk without getting totally drenched And it looks like the weather should hopefully be a bit drier tomorrow!
